Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions parents most often ask.

Learning therapy is a specialised, educational-psychological form of support for children and young people with learning difficulties such as dyscalculia, dyslexia/LRS or ADHD. Unlike tutoring, learning therapy addresses the underlying causes — not just the symptoms. We work holistically: professionally, emotionally and with great patience. The goal is for your child to regain confidence in their own abilities.
Typical signs are: persistent difficulties with reading, writing or arithmetic despite practice, frustration and avoidance around homework, dropping motivation or anxiety about school. If teachers also raise concerns, a no-obligation initial conversation makes sense. Trust your gut feeling — if you sense something isn't right, it's right to ask.
A session usually lasts 50 minutes and takes place once a week. We work playfully, creatively and always at eye level with your child. Every session is planned individually and builds on your child's strengths. There is no performance pressure — instead, many small moments of success that strengthen self-confidence.
That depends on individual needs. Some children only need a few months, others benefit from longer-term support over one to two years. We regularly review progress together and adjust the plan. You always have a say — there is no minimum commitment.
Unfortunately, learning therapy is not covered by statutory health insurance. Under certain conditions, however, the youth welfare office (Jugendamt) can cover the costs through what is known as integration assistance (§ 35a SGB VIII). I'm happy to advise you on whether this might apply to your situation and to support you with the application.
In principle, learning therapy is possible from pre-school age; most often we start from year 1 or 2 of school. The earlier difficulties are recognised and supported, the better — but it is never too late. Older children and teenagers also benefit from targeted support.
Usually, therapy takes place in a protected setting between me and the child — this creates trust and freedom. Especially at the start or with younger children, however, parents are welcome to join. Regular parent conversations keep you informed and give space for your questions.

Every child carries a special strength inside. Sometimes it just takes someone who looks closely, listens and finds the right key. Together we open doors you didn't know were there.
